Author Guidelines - Journal of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Diseases (JCCD)

1. Scope & Manuscript Categories

The Journal of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Diseases (JCCD) publishes high-impact research covering all aspects of cardiovascular medicine, including clinical, translational, and basic sciences.

We accept the following manuscript types:

  • Original Research Articles (Clinical trials, observational studies, experimental research)
  • Review Articles (Systematic reviews, meta-analyses, state-of-the-art reviews)
  • Case Reports & Case Series (Unique clinical cases with significant educational value)
  • Editorials & Expert Opinions (Invited contributions from thought leaders in cardiology)
  • Technical Notes & Innovations (Novel techniques, devices, or procedural advancements)
  • Letters to the Editor (Commentary on published articles or emerging topics)

2. Manuscript Preparation Guidelines

A. General Formatting

  • Language: English (American or British, but consistent)
  • File Format: Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) or LaTeX (with a compiled PDF)
  • Font & Spacing: Times New Roman, 12 pt, double-spaced
  • Margins: 1-inch (2.54 cm) on all sides
  • Page Numbers: Bottom-right corner
  • Line Numbering: Continuous, for ease of peer review

B. Manuscript Structure

Each manuscript must include the following sections:

1. Title Page

  • Title: Concise, descriptive, and limited to 20 words
  • Authors: Full names, affiliations, and ORCID iDs
  • Corresponding Author: Name, email, phone number, and full institutional address
  • Running Title: Maximum 50 characters (for journal header)
  • Conflicts of Interest: Mandatory disclosure statement
  • Supplementary Materials

2. Abstract & Keywords

  • Abstract Length:
    • Original Research: 250 words (structured: Background, Methods, Results, Conclusion)
    • Reviews & Case Reports: 200 words (unstructured)
  • Keywords: 4-6 relevant keywords (MeSH terms preferred)

3. Main Text

  • Original Research:
    • Introduction: Background, research gap, objectives
    • Methods: Study design, ethical approval, statistical analysis
    • Results: Clear, concise, supported by figures/tables
    • Discussion: Interpretation, limitations, clinical relevance
    • Conclusion: Summary of key findings and future directions
  • Review Articles: Should be structured logically with clear subsections
  • Case Reports: Should include Introduction, Case Presentation, Discussion, and Conclusion

4. References

  • Follow Vancouver citation style (numbered in order of appearance)
  • Use DOIs whenever possible
  • Software like EndNote, Mendeley, or Zotero is recommended for reference management
  • Examples:
    • Journal Article: Smith J, Doe A. Title of the study. J Cardiol Cardiovasc Dis. 2024;12(3):123-130. doi:10.xxxx/xxxx
    • Book: Johnson AB. Cardiac Physiology and Disease. 2nd ed. Springer; 2023.

5. Figures & Tables

  • Figures: High-resolution (minimum 300 dpi, TIFF/PNG format)
  • Tables: Created using Word table format (no images of tables)
  • Legends: Should be clear and self-explanatory
  • Permissions: If using previously published material, obtain copyright clearance

6. Supplementary Materials

  • Extended datasets, videos, or additional figures may be submitted as supplementary files.

3. Ethical Considerations

A. Authorship Criteria

All listed authors must meet the ICMJE authorship guidelines, ensuring:

  1. Substantial contributions to the work
  2. Drafting or critically revising the manuscript
  3. Final approval before submission
  4. Accountability for all aspects of the work

Changes in authorship after submission require a formal request and justification.

B. Plagiarism & Data Integrity

  • Manuscripts undergo plagiarism screening.
  • Fabrication or falsification of data results in immediate rejection and reporting
  • Clinical trials must be registered (e.g., ClinicalTrials.gov)

C. Human & Animal Research Ethics

  • Human studies: Require IRB approval and informed consent
  • Animal studies: Must follow institutional and national ethical guidelines
  • Ethical approval statement must be included in the Methods section

D. Conflict of Interest & Funding Disclosure

  • All authors must declare financial, institutional, or personal conflicts
  • Funding sources must be clearly stated in a dedicated section

4. Manuscript Submission Process

  • Online Submission System: Manuscripts must be submitted via JCCD's online platform (to be provided)
  • Cover Letter: Must include:
    • Statement of manuscript originality
    • Confirmation that the manuscript is not under review elsewhere
    • Explanation of study significance

Editorial Workflow

  1. Initial Check (Plagiarism, formatting, ethical compliance)
  2. Peer Review (Double-blind, 2-3 expert reviewers)
  3. Decision Notification:
    • Accepted with Minor Revisions
    • Major Revisions Required (resubmission needed)
    • Rejected (with feedback)
  4. Final Proofreading & Publication

5. Post-Publication Policies

  • Corrections: Minor errors are corrected via errata.
  • Retractions: Issued for proven ethical violations.
  • Post-Publication Comments: Authors can respond to critiques in Letters to the Editor.

6. Open Access & Copyright

  • JCCD follows an Open Access model, allowing unrestricted access to published content.
  • Authors retain copyright under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial (CC BY-NC) license.
